ABOUTTHE CLIENT
The company Slovenski državni gozdovi d. o. o. (SiDG), owned by the Republic of Slovenia, manages the state forests. As the largest forest manager in Slovenia, it oversees approximately 236,000 hectares of forest land, representing about 20% of all Slovenian forests.
Core Principles of Operation
- Sustainability is the foundation of the company’s operations. By adhering to this principle, SiDG preserves forests for future generations and ensures stable returns from forestry, while recognizing the forest as an ecosystem.
- Through close-to-nature forest management and by mimicking natural processes in forest ecosystem development, the company guides forest growth, maintains biodiversity, and strengthens forest ecosystems.

The company aims to become a benchmark of excellence in Europe in terms of maintaining and enhancing the economic, social, and ecological functions of forests and wood.
Mission
The company manages forests sustainably and in harmony with nature, using best practices and modern technologies for process management and monitoring, in a way that increases the added value of wood and ensures returns for both the owner and the environment.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
For the internal needs of SiDG, we developed an intranet web application for employees.
An intranet is a computer network that uses Internet protocol technology to exchange information, operating systems, or computing services within an organization.
The term is used in contrast to the Internet — an inter-organizational network. Sometimes, it refers only to an organization’s internal website, but it can also represent a broader part of the organization’s IT infrastructure, consisting of multiple local networks.
The intranet website for SiDG, built on the .NET Core 8 platform with Umbraco CMS and an SQLite database, delivers an intuitive user experience with advanced functionalities.
Main Features of the SiDG Intranet:
- Active Directory Authentication:
Enables simple and secure login using existing Active Directory credentials, providing users with fast and reliable access to content. - Document Search Engine:
An advanced search tool allows users to find documents based on their name, metadata, or even content, making it easier and faster to locate necessary information. - Modular Web Page Composition:
Allows users to customize and expand web page content without modifying the code, ensuring easy management and updates. - Full-Site Content Search:
In addition to document search, it enables searching through all website content, giving users easy access to the information they need. - Advanced Room Reservation System:
Provides users with an intuitive and efficient way to book various rooms for lectures and other events, simplifying space organization and management. - Integration with Backend Systems via iFrame:
Allows integration with other systems through iFrame, enabling users to access additional functionalities and information in one place.
By combining an intuitive user interface with advanced features, the SiDG intranet built on the Umbraco platform sets new standards in effective management and access to key employee information.
