Near the town of Divača, in the heart of the mysterious world of the Slovenian Karst, lies Divača Cave – one of the oldest tourist-accessible caves in the country. This underground gem captivates visitors with its stunning dripstone formations, lofty chambers, and the profound silence that has ruled the depths for millennia.
The Discovery Story
Divača Cave was discovered in 1884 by a local resident, Gregor Žiberna, who was also the first to explore it and name its natural features using Slovene terms. His contribution is considered a milestone in the history of speleology in the Karst region. Just three years later, in 1887, the cave was made accessible to visitors, and ever since, it has impressed guests from all over the world.
Natural Features
The cave showcases a wide variety of dripstone formations – from delicate curtains to majestic stalagmites. Its passages and chambers were carved over millennia by underground waters flowing through the limestone layers, creating astonishing shapes. The interior maintains a constant temperature of around 10°C, so we recommend wearing appropriate clothing even during the summer months.
Interesting Facts
Over the years, Divača Cave has welcomed many notable visitors, including Crown Prince Rudolf of Habsburg and Sigmund Freud. Its natural beauty and historical significance make it one of the most important tourist destinations in the Slovenian Karst.

WordPress is an open-source system used as a tool for creating and managing websites. It is what’s known as a CMS (Content Management System), which in Slovenian could be translated as “sistem za urejanje vsebin.”
Originally, WordPress was developed as a platform for setting up and managing blogs. You might still remember the time when blogs were practically nonexistent—until suddenly, they started appearing more and more frequently.
At that time, WordPress supported countless bloggers, as most blogs were based on it. That remains true today. However, WordPress has grown far beyond a blogging CMS—today, many professional websites, both business and personal, are built on it.
The design of the Divača Cave website is fully customized according to the client’s wishes—every detail is crafted to reflect their vision and to follow the guidelines of their corporate visual identity (CVI). With an innovative approach and meticulous attention to detail, we created a user experience that combines aesthetics and functionality.
