ABOUTTHE CLIENT
Slovenian breast cancer society Europa Donna is an independent, non-profit civil society organisation. It brings together healthy women, breast cancer or reproductive system cancer female patients, individuals and expert institutions in Slovenia that are active in the field of breast cancer and reproductive system cancer. The organisation is a member of the European network and advocates their 10 goals. In addition to these 10 goals, Europa Donna Slovenia has other goals as well.
The main goal of the Slovenian society Europa Donna is to provide all the women in Slovenia equal opportunities for early detection of the disease as well as immediate and effective treatment and rehabilitation.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
For our client Europa Donna we have created a hybrid mobile application. Regular and correct breast self-examination is key for detecting early changes both in and on the breast, even cancerous ones.
Women should perform the breast self-examination 7-10 days after their period starts or on a selected day in a month if they are no longer menstruating. With a reminder and graphic representation of the procedure the application helps women in performing regular and correct breast self-examination.
The main elements of the application are thus graphic instructions on how to perform the self-examination, period calendar and the so-called push notifications. In addition, the application is extremely easy and intuitive to use.
The hybrid application has been created on the Framework 7 platform. Hybrid application is an online application in its essence but is included in a “light container” of native application allowing it to use certain functionalities of native platform and to access hardware of the device (camera, calendar, push notifications, display gestures…) which online applications usually have no access to.
Just like online applications, hybrid applications are also created with commonly used front end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS, allowing them to function on all platforms. Just like native applications, the hybrid ones can also be accessed via app stores (Apple App Store and Google Play).
